This event is part of Our Living Archives, an ongoing project organised by Museum X and Kowetha, which sets out to understand the collections relating to Black history held by Cornish museums and archives, and to increase access to these collections for people of colour.

The programme at CAST is organised by Museum X and begins with a screening of To Whom Does This Belong?, a documentary exploring questions of archives, belonging, memory and the historical legacies of African presence in Cornwall.

Following the film, there will be an informal open conversation with members of the Our Living Archives team, followed by a collage and e-zine making workshop led by artist Remiiya Badru.

The event aims to explore ideas of place, memory and belonging, imagining through conversation, collage and creative making what a living archive for Cornwall might look like.

The discussion will be facilitated by:

Sandra Shakespeare – founder and Executive Director, Museum X

Caroline Deeds – documentary filmmaker and lecturer, Falmouth University

Dr Chloe Phillips – historian and PhD Researcher, University of Leicester

Remiiya Badru – artist, creative practitioner and walker

Malcolm Phillips – director, Kawaida Therapy

Please note that To Whom Does This Belong? explores sensitive historical themes and is recommended for ages 12+ (under 18s should be accompanied by a parent or carer).
