A wartime Scottish island faces a dire whisky shortage, which is driving the locals to distraction – that is until a shipwreck brings a massive cargo of Scotch within close reach. The islanders must find a way to rescue the booty before the ship sinks, meanwhile thwarting the authorities who are trying to recover it. This classic Ealing comedy is based on the novel by Compton Mackenzie who lived for a while in Toy Cottage, Gunwalloe.
