Artist duo Semiconductor, Ruth Jarman and Joseph Gerhardt, work at the intersection of art and science. In their art works they explore the material nature of our world and how we experience it through the lens of science and technology, questioning how they mediate our experiences.
They have recently returned from a Collide@CERN Ars Electronica Award residency, where they spent an intensive and inspiring couple of months with scientists at CERN, and are currently developing new works that will emerge from this period of research.
At CAST they will present examples of past and current work and talk about their experiences at CERN, introduced by curator and writer Rob La Frenais.
CAST Café will serve food from 6.30pm, something hot and something sweet for £6.
This talk is organised as part of Groundwork, a three-year project bringing outstanding art and artists to Cornwall, supported by Arts Council England’s Ambition for Excellence scheme. Field trips, workshops and events during 2016 and 2017 are building towards a high-profile programme of commissions and sited work in 2018.
