CAST-Off will return to the Walled Garden at Penrose this summer on Saturday 29 July, and Saturday 5, 12 and 19 August. There will also be making sessions at Coronation Gardens in Helston on Wednesday 2, 9 and 16 August, as well as a final day of activities on Wednesday 23 August on Gunwalloe Beach.
Guided activities will run from 10am to 12 noon and 2pm to 4pm each day. Families are welcome to drop in for an hour or two or pack a picnic and spend the whole day exploring, making and playing.
Each session will have a range of creative outdoor activities led by artists. More details of what is planned for each day will be announced here and on our facebook page in the coming weeks.
There will be a free activity map, with stamps to collect from different locations along the trail from the free Fairground Car Park in Helston to the Walled Garden at Penrose, about one and a half miles of walking, scooting or cycling. Families in Helston should look out for activity maps in school bags and there will be copies available to collect from CAST Café as well as at CAST-Off sessions.
All the activities are free and offered on a drop-in basis, no booking required. Donations welcome.
We won’t be put off by a bit of drizzle and hope you won’t either, but check on the day in case of extreme weather or last-minute changes.
Parking:
For sessions at Penrose, we recommend parking at the free Fairground car park in Helston and making your way along the CAST-Off trail to the Walled Garden. This route is tarmac all the way, so well suited to pushchairs, scooters, and bikes. Please be aware the route is 2.4km / 1.5 miles, with an approximate walk time of 45 minutes.
For those who need to get a little closer by car, there is a small National Trust car park, approximately 1km / 0.6 miles from the Walled Garden along the official paths.
For sessions at Coronation Gardens the nearest car park is the large council-run one on Trengrouse Way, from which it is approximately a 600m / 0.4 miles walk.
