The first CAST Film Club screening will be an exceptional opportunity to see three short films by Isaac Julien. Nominated for the Turner Prize in 2001, Julien is an internationally celebrated artist. We are extremely fortunate to have permission to screen these films, usually exhibited only in gallery contexts. They are: True North, 2004, Fantôme Afrique 2005 and Western Union: Small Boats (The Leopard), 2007. Isaac Julien has generously agreed that the films can be shown at CAST on an educational basis.
An 8-minute short entitled Wise Woman by Falmouth graduate Linda Straehl will also be screened. Straehl has recently been selected as the winner of Falmouth School of Art’s 2015 Midas Prize. Her work is currently on show at the Millennium Gallery in St Ives.
CAST’s public programme for 2015/16 is supported by Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts Scheme, using funds from the National Lottery.
CAST Film Club programme is curated by Kelly Taylor.
