Drop into CAST every Saturday in August for free artist-led, family-friendly activities.
Have a go at drawing your friends and family on Jonathan Polkest’s magical camera obscura portrait drawing machine and show your creations in a growing exhibition at CAST.
On Saturday 4 and Saturday 25 August dress up in Victorian costume, pose and have your picture portrait taken the old-fashioned way on James Hankey’s large-format camera in the Lightbox studio.
On Saturday 11 and Saturday 18 August explore light and shadow play spaces with shadow theatre, projectors, screens and reflections.
Saturday activities are all free to join, no booking required. Drop in anytime between 10am and 2pm and the friendly Lightbox helpers will show you where to go.
The Lightbox festival is funded by the Garcia Family Foundation, Feast, Little Parc Owles Trust and Arts Council England and is part of Groundwork, a season of exhibitions and events in special locations across Cornwall, organised by CAST in partnership with Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange, Kestle Barton and Tate St Ives. Lightbox is created by Lucy Grant of Heads & Hands, commissioned by CAST and hosted by CAST and Helston Museum.
