Musician, composer and performer Seamas Carey will visit CAST for the last show of his Cornwall tour. He will be joined by a dancing choir led by Vicky Abbott to present a strange evening of heartwarming and ridiculous songs, time travel, nostalgia probing, rave music and tap dancing, suitable for anyone who is a child or has been a child.
One day Seamas found an old cassette tape in the back of his car, on which he discovered recordings of himself as a four-year-old boy telling stories and singing his heart out. He knew then that he had to do something with these artefacts of posterity and drag them into the present day. The end result is an hour of remixed and recomposed songs arranged for a choir, performed while Seamas plays piano, talks about growing up and occasionally dances.
Seamas is a performer, composer and musician based in London. He is currently touring the USA with Kneehigh’s production of 946: The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips. Seamas Carey Meets His 4 Year Old Self, With A Choir was originally commissioned for Newlyn Art Gallery and Newlyn Arts Festival in October 2016 and returns this spring to tour venues across Cornwall. The show is directed by Agnieszka Blonska and supported by FEAST.
Bar, snacks and refreshments available at CAST Café from 7pm.
