Join Lucy Grant and the CAST learning team in our ground floor studio for a drop-in shadow play workshop. Timed to coincide with the spring equinox, this hands-on workshop offers lots to learn, see and do.
Craft your own articulated spring-themed shadow puppets with guidance from Lucy and team. Then move into the perfect darkness of the black box screening space, where renowned local puppeteer and animator Mae Voogd will be on hand to help you explore techniques for performing with your creations.
We’ll also be showing a shadow play animation by Mae Voogd. Originally commissioned for our Art Lab programme for primary schools, this short film depicts a duel between the eternal forces of darkness and light, in the form of Old Lady Winter and Spring, a young girl with golden curls.
This workshop will be part of Helston Spring Thing – a weekend of activity, exploration and discovery happening across Helston between 21 and 23 March.
