CAST’s Saturday Art Club offers young people aged between eleven and sixteen the opportunity to take part in creative activities in an engaging and supportive environment. All sessions are free of charge, with materials provided.
The club is structured around engagement with a wide range of artists, many of whom have studios at, or close links with, CAST. Under the guidance of artist and learning specialist Kate Turner, members have the chance to visit artists’ studios both at CAST and in the wider community, try different mediums and techniques, and grow their social confidence through creative collaboration.
Examples of some of the past Saturday Art Club sessions can be seen below.
Due to growing demand, there are now two Saturday Art Club groups. The Saturday morning group meets from 10.30am to 1pm and the afternoon group meets from 2pm to 4.30pm. Sessions take place on six Saturdays per term.

The Saturday Art Club began in May 2021 with a pilot programme of six art sessions, thanks to support from the Garcia Family Foundation. These initial sessions ran from May to July and proved so successful that a second pilot was run in September and October 2021. By November 2021, funding from Arts Council England was secured to allow the program to continue through the summer of 2022. In 2023 and 2024, the programme was also supported by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
