In October 2024, CAST held a weekend of activities celebrating the renovation work that had been achieved with funding from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.

The Golden October weekend included artist-led walks, open studios, talks and bookable workshops for adults, as well as four Think and Make workshops.

Families could use paper stencils and three colours of ink (magenta, cyan and yellow) to build up their own layered tri-chromatic prints, or make block prints using stamps and the three primary colours to create unique tessellating designs. Ceramicists Finn Cameron and Vicky Wiltshire led a ‘portrait pots’ session, and more clay was on hand for participants to create and decorate their own tiny bowl or beaker with the types of simple tools and techniques used in Neolithic times.

‘The kids have been so engaged – thank you. The black box was the biggest hit!’

‘Amazing tri-chromatic printing – the kids loved it! And we all enjoyed the video animation and the projectors.’

‘Loved the interactive colour projections in the film space – my 4-year-old had the best time exploring and playing with shapes and colour.’

‘We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere to let children explore and experiment in quality activities. Thank you.’

‘Always amazing quality workshops and content that is high-quality and accessible.’
